Introduction

Cao de Castro Laboreiro is a herding dog originating from the village of Castro Laboreiro in the northern mountains of Portugal.

It is also known by names like Castro Laboreiro Dog, Castro Laboreiro Livestock Guarding Dog and Portuguese Cattle Dog.

Since time immemorial, these large dogs have been used as diligent flock guardians. Although they tend to be hostile and wary of strangers still, they are usually docile with the people they are familiar with. Nowadays, these dogs mostly serve as guard and companion dogs.

Introduction

French Spaniel also known as Epagneul Francais or Épagneul Français is a handsome, medium-sized dog. The breed was particularly popular in the Middle Ages as a setting dog for net hunting. As the name suggests, the breed originated in France.

This versatile pointing dog can retrieve on dry land as well as water. It is considered to be a distant descendant of the long-haired Chien d’Oysel breed dogs.

Earlier, these dogs were used as game bird hunters, especially used for hunting woodcock and grouse). However, with the passage of time, their importance decreased as against English breeds.
