Pariah Dog

Introduction

Pariah Dog, also referred to as INDog (Indian Native Dog) or Indian Pariah Dog is a smart, friendly and highly adaptable dog. It is believed that these medium sized dogs descended from early domesticated dogs that originated in Eastern Asia.

The origin of this ancient breed dates back to almost 12,000-15,000 years. The word ‘pariah’ is derived from Tamil word ‘paraiyar’ meaning social outcast.

In India, these feral dogs often roam about as neighborhood or community dogs. Consequently, most of the mixed breed dogs in India are partly Pariah. Thus, although this is a pure breed, it is often confused as mixed breed.
